The Kristoff Veinte line celebrates the 20th anniversary of Glen Case’s Kristoff Cigar company.
Wrapper: Brazilian Arapiraca
Binder: Indonesian
Filler: Nicaraguan, Pennsylvania
Size: Perfecto 6 x 60
The Veinte is sharp-looking with black and silver dual bands over the dark coffee brown Arapiraca wrapper. It looks well-constructed and has no soft spots. The draw on it is excellent, and the pre-light draw delivers notes of barnyard, earth, coffee, and chocolate.
It starts off with creamy cocoa and espresso notes with dark earthy tones in the background. There is a light black pepper spice along with some musty earth and coffee in the retrohale. The burn is even and the burn line thin. The ash is solid with no flaking, showing bands of lighter and darker gray. The cocoa notes deepen and get sweeter in the second third. The pepper in the retrohale ramps up as well. In the final third, the flavors evolve again, becoming more earthy and less sweet, with the retrohale becoming more earthy as well.
The Veinte Perfecto moved from medium to full in body and was medium to medium-plus in strength. The burn was flawless. Something else that impressed me was that both bands slipped off the cigar when desired. I hate it when you remove the band on a cigar and find it takes a section of the wrapper with it. It was well-balanced and had an enjoyable complexity to it in the way the flavors shifted around as I smoked it. It is a great offering from Kristoff and is definitely not just blowing smoke! Highly recommended.
