Kopp Limited Edition: Flame 1919 (2024)

Presented in a large tin without an airtight seal, the tobacco is in a plastic bag inside. The blend consists of cube-cut Virginias, cube-cut Burleys, Cavendish, and Perique. It is deep, sweet, and creamy, with notes of stewed fruit, dark chocolate, nuts, and rye bread. There is almost no spice, but warm cedar notes are present in the retrohale. The finish leaves notes of stewed fruits and molasses. It is medium to full in body and medium in strength.

As a tobacconist, I wish this came sealed more effectively. I am concerned about the shelf life of this in the store. Because it is only available in 100g tins, chances are—unless you are going to power smoke your way through it yourself—you are going to need to transfer it to an airtight container to keep it humidified. You will certainly have to do something if you age it.

The tobacco itself, however, is quite enjoyable and offers enjoyable nuance and complexity. If you enjoy rich, dark, more full-bodied Virginia blends, I recommend it.
