The Mi Querida Green Pata Perro 8.5 x 52 is DT&T’s replacement for the Polpetta as their event-only cigar. Interestingly, “pata perro” is a Spanish idiom that translates to “dog’s paw” and is often used to describe someone who can’t stay in one place for too long, much like a dog that is always roaming. This is quite ironic considering the length of this cigar, which encourages a long, leisurely smoke. This Double Corona cigar comes in a 2-cigar coffin set.

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Mexican San Andres
Filler: Nicaraguan, Dominican
Size: Double Corona 8.5 x 52

The cigar features a dark, matte coffee brown wrapper that is uniform in color, and slightly toothy with some obvious veins. There are notes of barnyard, cocoa, and coffee off the foot. The draw is good, revealing notes of cocoa, pepper, earth, and barnyard.
Upon lighting, the cigar offers notes of cocoa, earth, black grape, cream, and a light pepper spice. The burn is even with a thin burn line and solid white ash that holds for more than an inch. It is exceptionally smooth.
In the second third, there are coffee, mocha, and cream flavors with a light pepper in the retrohale. There is no spice on the palate.
In the final third, the sweetness gradually starts to fade, and the mocha flavor picks up. The earth, dark cocoa, and cream continue. The cigar is medium-bodied and medium-plus in strength.
The cigar stayed consistent throughout with no construction or burn issues to speak of. It is well-balanced and nuanced. Given its length, I was expecting more complexity, but there was certainly enough going on that I enjoyed it all the way to the end. So the PataPerro is definitely not just blowing smoke! Recommended!
