The Perdomo 30th Anniversary Connecticut Epicure is a cigar that honors Nick Perdomo’s 30 years in the cigar industry, celebrated in 2022. Each of the three blends in the line features 15-year-old tobaccos, with the wrappers receiving extra aging time in bourbon barrels. For the Connecticut Epicure, the wrapper is barrel-aged for an additional eight months.

The cigar has a silky smooth, golden brown wrapper. The draw is firm but good, offering notes of nuts, sweet hay, and hints of barnyard on the cold draw. Upon lighting, I immediately notice flavors of cream, nuts, and a hint of chocolate sweetness. The burn line is thicker than expected, and the ash is light gray and unflaky. The retrohale reveals white pepper, wood, and cream, with very little spice on the palate. The burn is straight, and the ash naturally falls at about an inch. The finish is creamy, nutty, and buttery, with a very light hint of pepper.
As the cigar progresses, the profile remains consistent, though some wood notes enter the second third. It stays smooth and creamy, with the cocoa sweetness transitioning into a more nutty sweetness about halfway through. I also pick up some mustiness, which pleasantly testifies to the age of the tobaccos.
In the final third, the cigar continues to burn perfectly. The burn line has thinned to what I would expect from the age of this tobacco. One of the things I appreciate about this cigar is how cleanly the band comes off, leaving the wrapper fully intact. The profile remains smooth, creamy, and nutty, with undertones of wood and hay. The retrohale is fairly spicy with white pepper and cedar spice, but there is no spice on the palate.
Overall, the Perdomo 30th Anniversary Connecticut Epicure is mild to medium in body and medium in strength. It is very smooth and consistent throughout, making it a delightful smoking experience, especially for those who enjoy a good mild to medium cigar. It is not just blowing smoke, and recommended.
