La Flor Dominicana LG Emeraude

The “LG” references LFD’s co-founder Litto Gomez. The cigar is limited to members of the TAA which recently celebrated its “emerald” anniversary (55th), in 2023, hence the French “Emeraude” in the name. As with all cigars released in the Litto Gomez line, the LG Emeraude is made entirely of Dominican tobacco grown at the company’s farm in La Canela.

  • Wrapper: Dominican
  • Binder: Dominican
  • Filler: Dominican
  • Size: Toro 6 x 54

The cigar features a coffee-brown wrapper that is slightly toothy, oily, and firm. The draw is tight, but works. In the cold draw flavors include espresso, leather, cedar, and salt.

Upon lighting, there was a lot going on: notes of coffee, unsweetened cocoa, salt, caramel, along with earth and pepper in the retrohale.

As the second third starts, additional flavors of nuts and cashews emerge. The ash is white, the burn is very even with a thin burn line, and the smoke is smooth. It is medium at best in body and strength. Before the final third, the flavors become more monochrome, with oak and mineral notes dominating.

The burn was excellent with no touch-ups necessary, although the draw remained tight throughout. The first half of the cigar was very enjoyable, but the second half did not match the first in flavor or complexity. The LG Emeraude is not just blowing smoke and recommended but I enjoyed their 30th Anniversary Chisel much more.
