H. Upmann 1844 Añejo Toro

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: PA Broadleaf
Filler: Nicaraguan, Honduran, Dominican
Size: Toro 6 x 54

The H. Upmann 1844 Añejo Toro features a uniform and silky-smooth coffee brown wrapper with a light oily sheen. The cold draw brings notes of barnyard, hay, and leather.

Upon lighting, the cigar opens with notes of nuts, buttery-sweetness, light coffee, leather, and cedar. It has a nice even burn with bands of white and dark gray ash with no flaking. Finish is nutty and creamy. Reto has a significant black pepper spice to it that lingers.

The profile stays consistent in the second third and in the final third the cedar notes increase and the buttery sweetness decreases. In the back end of the last third, the buttery sweetness returned. The burn remained perfect, requiring no touch ups or relights.

The H. Upmann 1844 Añejo Toro has a pleasant, consistent flavor profile with no construction or burn issues to speak of. While not a complex blend, there is enough going on to keep me interested in it, so it was not just blowing smoke. Recommended.
