RoMa Craft CRAFT Maquette Mon Cheri

The RoMa Craft CRAFT Maquette Mon Cheri is a limited edition cigar, with only 650 bundles available. It features a barber pole design with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper accompanied by a pinstripe of Ecuadorian Habano, and is further accented with a shiny brown footband. The wrapper is slightly toothy with a light oily sheen, and the draw is on point, offering barnyard notes on the cold draw.

  • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut and Habano
  • Binder: Nicaraguan
  • Filler: Nicaraguan
  • Size: Corona 5 3/4 x 46

Upon lighting, the cigar reveals flavors of earth, sweet cream, and cedar. The ash is a darker gray with black bands, slightly flaky but holding firm to about an inch. The burn line is even throughout. The retrohale introduces a soft black and white pepper spice. It is mild to maybe medium in body and mild strength. As the cigar progresses, the cedar notes become a bit more pronounced in the second half.

The Mon Cheri delivers a straightforward, mild-plus flavor profile that remains very consistent throughout the smoke. It boasts excellent construction and burn, with no issues to report. While it may appeal to those who enjoy a simple and reliable cigar, it lacks the complexity and nuance that some aficionados and fans of RoMa Craft seek. For me, it was a pleasant enough smoke but didn’t quite captivate my palate, and therefore was almost just blowing smoke.
